Virginia Bodenstedt

Virginia Bodenstedt, born Virginia Rea on November 2, 1946, left this world on July 14, 2026. Though her passing was unexpected for many, it was in true Virginia fashion that she carried herself with quiet dignity and determination, embracing life and its joys until her final days. Many did not know she was unwell; this was her way of ensuring every moment was filled with laughter, love, and the warmth of companionship rather than worry.

Those fortunate enough to know Virginia will remember her compassion, her unfailing kindness, and her gentle sense of humor. Virginia’s life was defined by her steadfast desire to put others at ease—she was always the first to offer a listening ear or a steady shoulder to lean on, and she nurtured friendships and cherished connections wherever she went.

Virginia always loved to work with her hands. She tended to her garden, enjoying the process of watching something grow and crocheting tiny hats and blankets for babies and mothers in need. What she loved most however, was cooking for her family Italian style, every meal an opportunity for a new adventure with food. Virginia also volunteered every year at the local elections for she felt it was her civic duty to be of service.

There is a quiet beauty in the way Virginia chose to live and depart: never one to burden others with her own troubles, she preferred instead to focus on what truly mattered—the gatherings, the conversations, and the many small joys shared with those she loved. Her legacy is woven from countless moments of generosity and selflessness, forming a tapestry of love that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Virginia is survived by her daughter Kelly Rea-Tedesco, her grandchildren Gabriella (Troy Chinoski) Tedesco, Daniella Tedesco, and Cara Cannella, and her great-grandson Bennett. She is also remembered fondly by her daughter-in-law Amber Cannella, her best friend Janice (Fleet), and her cousin Carl Ratkus.

She was welcomed into the loving embrace of her parents Virginio and Fracis Rea, her son who passed before her in 2022 Brian Bodenstedt, and her brother Michael who also passed in 2022.

Virginia’s journey is now complete, but the love and light she brought into the world continue to shine brightly. She is remembered with profound gratitude and affection, and her spirit will live on in the stories, memories, and lives she touched so deeply.
