Robert George Brushaber, affectionately known as Bob, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 20, 2026, in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Born on July 14, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, Bob's life was marked by a quiet strength, steadfast love for his family, and an enduring sense of responsibility to those around him.
Bob’s journey began in the vibrant city of Detroit, where the values of hard work and perseverance shaped the foundation of his character. His dedication to education and self-improvement was evident by his bachelor's and master's degrees that he earned through his time at Western Michigan University and Wayne State University. Over the decades, he forged strong connections within his community and embraced every opportunity to support and nurture those he cared for most. His strong work ethic was a part of how he approached his work at Sterling Tool Supply.
Bob's curious nature and knowledge of engineering took him down many trails to learn the intricacies and details of commercial airplanes and vintage automobiles. He also loved to shop for and collect antique items, connecting his surroundings this ties to the past and history.
He is survived by his devoted spouse, Jerry Harris, whose partnership and companionship were central to Bob’s life. Together, they cultivated a close-knit circle of family and friends, cherishing every moment spent with those near and dear. Bob also leaves behind his sister, Mary Hall; and his nieces and nephews, Sherri (Kevin) Cunningham; Carol (Patrick) O'Grady; Michael Harris; Julia (Mark) Trask; and Kevin (Lisa) Harris. Each of them benefited from Bob's wisdom, guidance, and steadfast support over the years.
Bob’s memory is carried forward by all who knew him, even as he is reunited with loved ones who went before him. He is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Mildred Brushaber, as well as his extended family members: aunts and uncles, Ed (Doris) Brushaber, George (Margaret) Craw, Elizabeth (Hrand) Hampikian; and cousins, Dick (Betty) Hampikian, and Hermineh (Roy) Miller. Their memories continue to provide comfort and strength to surviving family and friends.
A visitation will be held to honor Bob’s life and allow friends and family to gather and reflect on his legacy. The visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wysocki & Wilk Funeral Home, located at 29440 Ryan Rd, Warren, MI 48092. A funeral service celebrating Bob’s life will take place on the same day at 7:00 p.m. at the same location.
Robert George Brushaber’s life was a testament to quiet dignity and unfailing devotion to family and community. His influence endures in the lives he touched, and he will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
