Lyle Elaine Malenfant, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Born on August 6, 1937, in Calumet, Michigan, Lyle's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a profound connection to nature and family.
As a single mother, Lyle's proudest accomplishment was raising her three beloved children, Lori, Ken, and Michael (Dawn). Her unwavering dedication to them was evident in the countless memories they shared. Lyle taught her children not only to appreciate the beauty of the world around them, but to face their fears with courage. She stood outside with them during storms, counting the moments between lightning and thunder, transforming apprehension into calmness. Their afternoons were filled with joy as they picked cherry tomatoes from their garden and nurtured vibrant flowers, embodying Lyle’s love for nature.
Lyle's enthusiasm for life extended beyond gardening. She took great pleasure in sharing experiences with her family, whether it was learning how to play baseball together or enjoying Jeopardy challenges that sparked friendly competition. Each goodnight kiss was a reminder of her unconditional love, a sentiment that will remain forever imprinted in their hearts.
Lyle’s personality shone brightly, characterized by her great sense of humor and an unwavering love for her family. She was the cherished matriarch whose laughter echoed throughout family gatherings, creating an atmosphere brimming with warmth and affection. Those who knew her recognize the value of the memories she crafted—simple yet profound moments filled with tenderness.
In addition to her nurturing spirit, Lyle had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She had a passion for gardening, often tending to her many flowers, and found solace in music, favoring artists like The Moody Blues and The Guess Who. Crafting was another outlet for her creativity, where she showcased her talents through sewing, painting, and baking.
Lyle leaves behind a loving legacy, including her grandchildren Corey, Lauren, and Evan, and her great granddaughter Penelope Kay, who will carry forward the values and love she imparted. She is also survived by her six siblings: Gary, Karen, Nancy (Nick), Tom (Nancy), David, Deborah, and countless nieces and nephews who cherished her presence in their lives.
While her beloved parents, Harry and Irene Niemi, her brother, Daniel, and her siblings-in-law, Darlene, Sam, and Donald predeceased her, Lyle’s spirit will continue to live on through the bonds she forged and the lives she touched.
A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wysocki & Wilk Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.
