Gilbert Irving Bott

Gilbert I. Bott, age 97, passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2022.

Gilbert was the beloved husband of Bernice Bott for the last 71 years; loving father of Dennis (Lori Blumenstein-Bott) Bott, Janis (Frank) Caliguri, Larry (Jody Pear) Bott, David (Lauri) Bott, Steve (Traci) Bott, and Mike Bott; devoted grandfather of Ellie (Jim), Kyle (Kristina), Justin (Jill), Stacie (Patrick), Michael, Ryan, Jacob, Colin, Claire, Emily, Connor, Kevin (Chelsea), and Carolyn (Michael); proud great-grandfather of Olivia, Anne, Oliver, Owen, Camden, Shelby, Olivia, and Evelyn. He is survived by his sister, Winifred Perry, and sister-in-law, Carol Bott. Gilbert was predeceased by his siblings, Adelaide (Bill) Weiland, Harriet (Homer) Pharis, and Everett Bott, and brother-in-law, Dick Perry.

Gilbert was proud to have served his country; he was in the United States Army and a veteran of World War II. He was witness to the many realities of war, having been a part of the Normandy Invasion during that conflict. He was always very humble about the accomplishments during that time and beyond. A side effect of having a proper perspective on life. Above all, Gilbert was a family man. What he was most proud of in life was how he loved, cared for, and being there for his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Visitation Thursday, October 6, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. at Wysocki & Wilk Funeral Home, 29440 Ryan Road, Warren, Michigan. Interment and Military Honors will take place on Wednesday, October 12, promptly at 12:30 p.m. in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan.
