Edward A. Jerawski passed away on June 15, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Ed lived a life defined by service, curiosity, determination, and a love of learning. From his early days in the Civil Air Patrol to his distinguished career as a United States Air Force pilot and officer, he proudly served his country for decades, ultimately retiring as a Colonel in the Air Force Reserve.

Ed’s commitment to excellence extended beyond the military. He earned degrees in engineering, intelligence, and management and spent 39 years with Ford Motor Company, where he built a respected career as an engineer, mentor, and teacher. Throughout his life, he shared his passion for aviation by teaching at flight schools and mentoring aspiring pilots. Even in retirement, he continued flying and instructing, finding great joy in helping others experience the freedom and wonder of flight.

While his accomplishments were many, those who knew Ed will remember him most for his kindness, wisdom, sense of humor, and genuine interest in people. He valued education, hard work, friendship, and family, and he was always willing to share a story, offer guidance, or lend a helping hand.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Joyce, and his son, Joseph, and other loved ones who welcomed him home. He is survived by his sister, Maryann; his granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Ed’s life was one of purpose and service, but also of friendship, generosity, and love. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the family he cherished, the friends he treasured, and the many people he mentored throughout his remarkable 95 years.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
