Bernard Howard DeFazio

Bernard Howard DeFazio of Shelby Township passed away September 23, 2026. He was 72 years old. Bernie was the first son in a family of nine siblings. He is survived by Barbara (Richard) Odendahl, Rosemary (Clifford) Stuehmer, John, Julie Butler, Joseph (Annette) Parghoff-DeFazio, Thomas (Mary), Margaret Yankovitch, and William. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dominick and Shirley (Miller) DeFazio.

Bernie graduated from Boardman High School, in Broadman, Ohio in 1972. He was a proud retiree from General Motors; his career was spent at the Lordstown Assembly Plant in Lordstown, Ohio. He was a member of the Sterling Heights Computer Club.

Bernie was very handy and worked tirelessly helping his parents and siblings with projects around their homes. If one needed help with moving furniture, fixing a faucet, or replacing a sprinkler head, he was there. He was kind and generous to his many nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the kindness and compassion shown to Bernie and his siblings by the third-floor staff at StoryPoint of Shelby Township.

As was his wish, there will be no funeral services.
