Aleksander Sobotka passed away on June 30, 2026, in Warren, Michigan. He was born on December 15, 1963, in Mława, Poland. His life was marked by a strong and close family dynamic, diligent work ethic at his family business, and lasting memories shared with those who were close to him. It is a comfort to know that he is no longer in pain, and his memory will continue to be carried by those whose lives he touched.
Aleksander is survived by his devoted wife, Monika, with whom he shared many years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Janie, Alexandra, Aleksander, Marcin, Sebastian, and Krystian. Tata was known for his stubbornness and unique humor. The values he instilled and the memories he created will continue to live on through them.
He leaves behind ten grandchildren: Garrett, Daren, Conner, Kaylynn, Aiden, Evan, Sierra, Chance, Michael, and Delilah. He is also survived by his siblings, Maria, Halina, John, and Albert. His influence extended beyond his immediate family, friends, and neighbors to relatives and friends in Warren, Michigan, the US, Poland, Europe, and beyond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerzy (George) Sobotka and Ewa Janina Sobotka, as well as his brother Andy, his sister Ewa, and his brother Mark. Their memories remain closely connected to the life they shared together.
Especially early on in his adult years, Aleksander was known as a hardworking man who remained committed to providing for his family. Much of his time in his early adulthood was devoted to his furniture and appliance sales business. His dedication and perseverance helped create stability and support for those close to him.
Yet outside his determined spirit thrived a zest for life’s pleasures. Aleksander found delight in the hum of a vintage engine, his favorite being the powerful 1978 Cadillac DeVille Sedan. Fast cars and open roads were always a joy. His Polish heritage was expressed with his favorite polka songs, and every polka dance he shared. The contentment he expressed with every familiar tune spinning from his beloved cassette tapes. Evenings might find him grinning at the antics of The 3 Stooges, Bugs Bunny, or Tom & Jerry—willing to laugh, but only on his own terms.
Family memories paint Aleksander not only as a provider but as a father vivid with personality. Krystian recalls the spark in his tata's eyes at classic car shows, sharing awe and admiration for vehicles from another era. For Sebastian, even discipline was softened by love, with Tata quietly letting him in on where confiscated treasures had been tucked away after he stirred up a little ruckus. Alex remembers summer days in the family suburban, windows down, deep in conversation with Tata, the world rushing by unnoticed. Marcin can still hear “To the moon!!” as Tata’s powerful kick sent the kickball soaring upward—his voice as triumphant as the ball’s arc. Together, the brothers recall him dressing up as Santa for the Christmas of 2023, giving out presents for all while chuckling with great cheer.
No matter the occasion, Aleksander was persistent for what he wanted, unwavering when his mind was set. People often remarked on his stubbornness, his direct simplicity, and his dry humor reserved for moments of his own choosing. To all, these quirks made him utterly unique, his presence a signature in any room he entered.
Though Aleksander’s hands are now at rest and his struggle is over, the fullness of his life lingers—evocative, enduring, and loved.
